In 2021 I spent 3 weeks in the Dunn Cabin of the St. Croix Watershed Research Station. Its the field station of the Science Museum of MN and every year the sponsor artists at their Pine Needles propery on the St. Croix river. Inspiration is the word for my residency & several outcomes are numerous awards & now the conservation project "Likely Stories".

Katherine Roepke and Dr. Leo Furcht create new gardens and care for older gardens every year. The dahlias and gladious flowers are spectacular. Watch for new images starting this spring when Katherine and I work towards a book of the garden!

From city to townships from cabin to barn they show we exist.

Most websites have a place for animals and one for people.

I don't. I see us all as tribes sometimes sharing space and sometimes colliding desperately.

So here you will find people and all kinds of animals.

One afternoon I happened to open Hiro's book "Fighting Fish, Fighting Birds" and decided to challenge myself by seeing if I could tweek a personality from a flower as he had done with his beta fish and birds.

The result as been a continual move into more experimentation in camera work and in editing. Typically, I shoot in daylight with no backdrops or lighting other than sunlight. Then, like a sculptor chiseling marble, I strip away everything until I arrive at the image.
